In order to make sure all of our attendants are comfortable, and that we get our security deposit back we’ve got some EASY, BASIC RULES FOR YOU!
If you’re a jerk who blatantly ignores them we will ask you to leave.
- No drugs or alcohol. If you have it with you or are visibly under the influence we will ask you to leave. If you want to do it cool, just do it elsewhere (and stay safe)! It would suck if one person got us ALL in trouble.
- Be respectful of the venue!! If we lose our $300 security deposit because someone was acting ridiculous and broke or damaged the Rec Center’s property I’m gonna be kind of pissed!! Don’t stand on the chairs or tables. Use your brains!
- Don’t scream or otherwise act ridiculously loud and obnoxious. We are not at a playground (this year). It’s cool to have fun and cheer and sing and dance and do silly poses but remember we’re in a Rec Center that has other patrons. (It will also make my nerves skyrocket and you don’t want me on edge more than I already will be uwu)
- Do not touch other people without asking. If you want to dance with someone, ask them first. If you want to pose with someone, ask them first. NOT EVERYONE IS COMFORTABLE BEING TOUCHED. It will also give the person a good impression of you for clearly respecting their boundaries.
- No sloppy make-outs. A bit of smooching and hugging is fine but don’t be getting down and dirty in my ballroom. I’m sorry but no one wants to see that and it just makes everyone pretty uncomfortable so just save it for home. Take it to the car. Take it to your friend’s car, I don’t care! (Stay safe and consensual, kids.) JUST NOT AT THE DANCE!!!
- If a chaperone tells you to quit something, QUIT IT. There will be people with little buttons that say “chaperone” and they are here to uphold the peace. Even if it’s not explicitly listed here, if they tell you to stop doing something you’d better listen gosh darn it.
- Have fun and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. The hosts and chaperones are here for you! If you have a problem with any aspect of the dance, if someone’s bothering you or the music is too loud (causing physical pain) or you need to find a quiet place to calm down or you need someone to sit with you we understand and are here to help!
